The following is a list of GIKIANs who are no longer with us. We detail their memories here to share with everyone.

He died in June 1999 while trying to save his cousin from drowning in the sea. He managed to save the child but the sea took him.

| Syed Akbar Ali | 1 | FEE | May 6, 2001 | Akbar was the topper of the first batch (Class of 1997). He was the first GIKIan to get admission into Stanford University. Was a Director at a startup company, Brience, in San Francisco at just 27 yrs of age. Died in a car accident driving back from work on the night of May 6th. Collided head-on with the car of a drunk driver who was driving in the wrong direction on the 101 freeway. |
| Amir Mahmood | 1 | FCSE | Aug 7, 2005 | Amir (fondly known as Tom as well) graduated from GIKI in 1997 and continued to spend his time with his alma mater as a Teaching Assistant for CS courses. He moved to the US a few years later to pursue job opportunities. Amir had a car accident a few months later that rendered his body paralyzed. Amir bravely fought his physical challenges for ~5 yrs. His friends would receive emails of optimism that he sent via a special computer at his rehab facility. He left us in 2005. |
